Update on Haze. -Dallas/ Fort Worth Photographer
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!
The day before surgery Haze said, “I need to use my feet as much as I can!”, so we did. We went to the State Fair and ran around. If you know Haze then you know his favorite thing before bed to eat is a banana, well a man won this and handed it to Haze. Wow! He has no idea who he just gave a banana too and how fitting it was. That night Haze could not eat a banana before bed but he did sleep with one.

Haze made it through surgery and is now at home sleeping and playing video games when awake so I thought I would come and update the blog with the few pictures we took when we got a chance too, this post has taken me almost all evening to do.
We arrived today and Haze was nervous of course but excited to “make the pain go away”. He brought Penguin and Panda with him and they ended up staying with him the whole time. When he was settled in with IV’s and meds starting in he said “I guess there is no turning back now” and I said nope, but would you want too and he said no. Little buddy is so ready for a good nights sleep. Dr. Jeff Taylor came in and marked/initialed his feet and talked to us, Haze really likes Dr. Jeff and immediatly had a smile.
We were in good hands.

An hour into surgery I got a call from the nurse in the room with Haze and she told us Haze was doing great and Dr. Jeff Taylor wanted us to know he didn’t have to make the 3rd cut and break the bone. This is great news and put us more at ease going into the next hour and second foot. Surgery was a little over 2 hours and he did great. Dr. Jeff Taylor showed us what he did and it was so awesome to see xrays of Haze’s bones going the right way. He cut the tendon in the back of his leg and he said immediatly Haze had the flexibilty he needed and then when he went in to put the spring everything lined up perfect, no need to make the 3rd cut and break the bone to adjust. YAY! This means 4 weeks in a wheel chair instead of 6 and a slightly easier recovery.
Haze will be in these halfway cast because of swelling for the next week and then he will be put into the real cast that everyone can sign next friday. We are all adjusting to taking care of him and how much this involves, luckily Joel is off work all next week. Tomorrow is supposed to be the roughest day if their is one so hopefully he sleeps through it and wakes up a happy camper in a couple days.

Get Well Hazey, we love you!
